SFC Young Scientist Award

The SFC Young Scientist Award is given annually to outstanding Master's or Bachelor's theses and rewards them with CHF 2,000 (Master's) or CHF 1,000 (Bachelor's). The award also includes three years' free membership of the SFC.

The theses must be related to the SFC's field of expertise, have been written at a Swiss university, and have been graded with a minimum of 5.0. The these must not be more than two years old at the time of the application deadline.

The application deadline for the SFC Young Scientist Award is March 31, 2026.

The application must be sent to info@swissfoodchem.ch and should include the following:

  • Email with a brief explanation and the most important information about the thesis (topic, when and where it was written, under whose supervision, etc.)
  • CV of the applicant
  • Summary of the master's or bachelor's thesis
  • Complete master's or bachelor's thesis

All correspondence will be conducted exclusively by email. The theses will be evaluated by a committee of the SFC board based on originality and innovation, quality and scope, as well as presentation and overall impression. The decision is final and cannot be appealed.

The two awards will be presented at the SFC event on June 18, 2026, where the winners will be required to present their work in a short presentation. The papers will be treated confidentially until the announcement of the award winners.

Membership is free for students for a maximum of three years (with proof of student status). Simply register, even if you are not applying for an SFC Young Scientist Award!
